It takes about 65 trees to produce the lumber
to build the typical 2,000 square-foot house.
But Kelly Moore and his wife, Margaret Hostetter,
have designed a home cutting that number to
near zero. The East Hill couple's iGreen Construction,
Inc., is building a prototype house made almost
entirely of aluminum and Styrofoam. And if building
a home from those light, but durable materials
sounds risky in this hurricane-prone region,
think again.
